Systems that prompt your AI — DB-driven loops with skills and cron

50k ft — Why care?

Riffs on Boris Cherny's advice to build loops that prompt Claude instead of prompting it yourself: connect the AI to a database with work and issues tables, use cron jobs to detect pending changes, and run skills for scoping, implementing, testing and repeating until the human goal is met. Counterpoint: for go-to-market work the human is still the bottleneck and must stay in the loop.

10k ft — Key takeaways

• Chain scope, implement, test skills until a goal check passes. • Creative/GTM tasks still need a human checkpoint. • Queue work in DB tables and let scheduled skills pick it up.

Transcript excerpt
Dude, failing companies automate everything. Look this up if you haven't watched this yet. I have loops that are running. They're the ones that are prompting quad and figuring out what to do. That was Boris. He's the head of Cloud Code. Boris says that you should not be prompting your AI. You should be building systems that prompt your AI for you. Most people shouldn't be doing that, dude. Sorry to break it. Try it for yourself, dude, and see. Connect your AI to some sort of database. Create these tables in the database. Tables for the things that you want AI to autonomously work on. An issues table to track the things you want to change. You can create these skills. You can have a series of cron jobs detect if there's anything needed to be changed. Say I want to create or update a workflow. And then run each skill. Scoping and planning the change. Making the change. Testing it. And doing that again until it reaches the human goal. And even build a cool front end like this. But I realize that I don't want my system to look like this. I want it looking like this. Bottleneck is not compute, bro. The bottleneck is very much still humans. We're still valuable, dude. This dream is awesome. There are so many fucking things that I need to be in the loop for. AI can't fucking read your mind, bro. Especially if you're doing something go-to-market related, bro. That requires so much human creativity. Yes, Boris definitely has things figured out that I don't even remotely. And I'm not…
