NVIDIA RTX Spark — ARM SoC with unified memory for local agents
50k ft — Why care?
At GTC Taipei, NVIDIA unveiled RTX Spark, an ARM-based system-on-chip for Windows. It combines a 20-core CPU, a Blackwell GPU and up to 128 GB of unified memory on one chip, so large models can run locally, and more than 30 laptops and 10 desktops have been announced. Trade-offs include slower memory than discrete setups and Prism emulation for x86 apps.
10k ft — Key takeaways
• The pitch is local agents running around the clock on a laptop.
• Unified memory lets the GPU use the whole RAM pool for large local models.
• x86 apps run through Prism emulation.

NVIDIA made an announcement in Taipei today that signals a major shift across consumer tech! The RTX Spark is much more than a chip. Rather, it’s a step towards changing the way we use standard personal computers. Yes, it’s good for modern gaming; but it’s especially strong for running your own local Al Agents 24/7!

A lot of people seem to be misunderstanding what just happened in Taiwan, that is, if they've even heard about it. It's not as simple as it sounds, and it could probably change the way we think about our lives. I'm Gage Chen, and today we're talking about the GTC, specifically what Envidia just did. You might know GTC as Envidia's GPU technology conference that takes place every March in San Jose, California. GTC Taipei is a regional event that's important for multiple, fairly obvious reasons. The star of the show was Envidia's RTX Spark, and people still seem to be figuring out what it is, so let's talk about it. The RTX Spark is a chip, but probably not in the way you think. It's ARM-based. What does that mean? ARM stands for Advanced Risk Machine, and that's risk with a C. It stands for Reduced Instruction Set Computer, because a few people noticed that a processor works a lot faster with simpler instructions. ARM Holdings was founded in the 90s as a joint partnership that included Apple. Yes, that Apple. Today they're one of the most valuable tech companies in the world. They've been on a tear, and this news can't hurt. I tell you all of this, because ARM doesn't actually manufacture the chips. They hold the IP, so when you hear ARM, you can think of Apple. You can think of smart devices. When you hear X86, you can think of Intel, AMD, the laptop you use to run Windows. Here's where it gets interesting. RTX Spark is a massive partnership with Windows. It's a chip, but…
