Grok Bot — persistent AI workers sharing one cloud computer
50k ft — Why care?
xAI's Grok Bot gives each user one dedicated cloud computer shared by all their bots, which can spawn long-lived bots, hand off work and switch underlying models. Docs warn bots share files, browser sessions and credentials, so they are not a security boundary.
10k ft — Key takeaways
• Don't rely on separate bots to isolate credentials
• Shared-computer agents trade isolation for easy handoffs

Elon Musk’s SpaceXAI just launched Grok Bot, but the most interesting part isn’t simply that it can create AI workers.
Each user gets a dedicated cloud computer shared across their Grok Bots. Those Bots can have different jobs, pass work between each other, create new long-lived Bots, and even run on different underlying models over time.
That leads to a much bigger idea: your future “job” may not be one AI model or one agent. It could be a persistent cloud computer that accumulates tools, context, responsibilities, and increasingly capable AI workers.
That’s my interpretation, not an xAI claim, but Grok Bot gives us a fascinating look at what that architecture could become.

If you're worried that everyone's jobs are being taken by AI, you should probably stop watching the promotional videos about Elon Musk's new Grokbot and zero in on something very interesting that's hidden deeper in the documentation. These AI workers can create new, long-lived AI workers, and they all share the same computer. I'm Giga Chen, and today I'm going to help you understand what that really means. Now creating other AI agents isn't new. Claude, OpenAI, Kimi, and others have versions of that idea. Grokbot packages it differently. That matters. SpaceX AI calls each bot a durable AI teammate with a name, a job, its own conversation, and working context that develops over time. And if you look into their documentation, it says that an existing bot can actually create another focus bot when a job needs a long-term owner. So you could have an expense manager, a recruiting bot, and even a chief of staff bot coordinating the others. They can message each other, pass work, and even assign ownership. Cutting edge? Kind of. New? Not really. But there's something else. All of your bots use the same persistent cloud computer. They share files, browser sessions, app logins, and even credentials used by software on that computer. SpaceX AI even explicitly warns, don't use separate bots as a security boundary. So they're not isolated employees with separated access. Why build it this way? Handoffs. A bot leaves behind something, another picks it up. It's starting to look less like…
