Instagram just handed every artist a free portfolio.
As of yesterday you can reorder your grid. Long press any post, tap Reorder Grid, and drag it wherever you want. The chronological grid is finally dead.
Why this matters more for you than for almost anyone else: when a gallery or collector clicks your name, your grid is your portfolio whether you treat it like one or not. They decide in seconds.
So today, take your six strongest pieces, the ones that look like one artist made them, and drag them to the top. Lead with the work, not your face or your reposts. Make the top of your profile look like a wall in a show, not a camera roll.
Five minutes. Costs nothing. Changes every first impression you make.
Save this and do it tonight. Send it to an artist whose grid is a beautiful mess.

Transcript excerpt
Instagram just quietly handed every artist a free portfolio. And almost nobody is using it yet. Here's the move. Yesterday Instagram rolled out a grid re-ordering. It basically means you can now drag any post on your profile into any order you want. The old chronological grid is dead. Now here's why this matters more for you than anyone else. When a gallery or collector clicks your name, your grid is your portfolio. Whether you treat it like one or not and they decide what they think of you in about three seconds. Until yesterday, the first thing they saw was whatever you happened to post last. A coffee, a meme, a half finished sketch. This is currently one of the most underrated features on Instagram for artists. So do this today. Take your six strongest pieces, the ones that actually look like one artist made of them, and drag them into the top six squares. Lead with your work. Make the top of your grid look like a wall in a show, not a camera roll. It takes a few minutes, it costs nothing, and it changes the first impression every gallery gets. Go and curate your top six tonight. Follow it for more honest takes on building a life as an artist.
