Covers a post by Claude's lead engineer on tuning AI ambition along speed, altitude, depth and range. The appendable prompt asks Claude what a top professional would do that you didn't ask for, what raw material they'd start from, which methods and tools they'd use, and who besides you would judge the result, then rewrites the prompt to ask for exactly that.

• Append the four-question ambition prompt to any task • Ask what an expert would start from instead of predigested material • Have the model rewrite your prompt before executing it • Stop using frontier models only for one-off small tasks

Transcript excerpt
So the lead engineer of Claude made this really cool post on X talking about how to be more ambitious with AI, including giving us an actual prompt we can use. Now, he talks about ambition in four different parts, speed, altitude, depth, and range. And he considers these four things sort of the different knobs we can tune when it comes to asking our AI to create more ambitious projects. And to help us out, he gave us a simple prompt that you can append to any prompt you're already using. Pretty much it's just asking Claude to do four things. One, you're asking Claude to say what a top professional in this field would do that you're not asking for. Two, name the raw material they would start from instead of what has already been digested. Three, name the specific methods and tools said expert would use. And then four, say what other than you or me would show the result Then rewrite the prompt to ask for exactly that. So I highly suggest you take the time to check out this article. It only takes a few minutes to read. And I think if you are someone who uses AI a ton, you definitely know that you can fall into the trap of just sending it off to complete these one off tasks when they have gotten so powerful, they really can bite off a lot more.
