global conspiracy. you know the physics behind it is bullshit...electrons dont even exist & microsoft is talking about splitting it in half...

Yesterday I told you all how China's new quantum computer works, and today everyone's asking me, what can we actually do with it? The answer to that question is going to surprise you. I'm Gigi Chen, and I'm building a community of smart, curious people, so if you want to know how the Geodong actually works, check out my last video. The Geodong 4.0 is built to do something called Gaussian boson sampling, which sounds like a party trick. It's not. Let's break down the name. Photons are a class of particles that like to crowd together. Photons are bosons. We call it sampling because the computer doesn't generate just one answer. Rather, it gives us samples from a probability distribution. Last time I told you they don't use single photons, rather they use squeezed states of light. These are Gaussian states in quantum optics. The full term Gaussian boson sampling was coined in 2017, pretty recent. GBS describes how the computer works, and it's one of the reasons classical computers can't keep up. You have to find something called a half-nan, and let me know if you want me to talk more about that. Here's where your mind gets blown. In 2024, researchers published a proof showing how real optimization problems can be mapped directly on to a Gaussian boson sampler. The problems are called cubo and pubo. That's quadratic and polynomial unconstrained binary optimization. It's way less boring than it sounds. It's actually the sauce. So if you've been watching to this point, congrats.…
