Coming up with good ideas and being creative is driven by intuition and fuelled by research, insight and knowledge.
Two do my favourite books on research and the creative process are:
A Technique for Producing Ideas, by James Webb Young. Talks about a five step process for generating really powerful ideas, and various other creative techniques.
Hit Makers: The Science of Popularity, by Derek Thompson, reflects on the turning points for content distribution, psychology of popularity (going viral) and really interesting network effect of dark broadcasts.

non-creative skills that make you a creative machine. Episode one. I really can't think of a single skill that puts you in more of a leverage point to sell your ideas than this. It's understanding research and how to do it. And I'll get to two books that taught me how to actually research properly. You want to think about the strategic work that goes into the research for you to come up with proper ideas whilst also providing you knowledge of the technical know-how to actually run this behind the scenes. Whether that is market research or competitor analysis if you're reading through Reddit or reviews or simply understanding the products that you're trying to sell or the project that you're trying to create. Just having this research-minded approach to how you work and how you create will put you miles ahead of anyone else out there. Takes your creative ideas from these pink fluffy clouds into something concrete and physical that you can pitch, especially if you're pitching to people who might not be as creative as you are. And as I said, there are two books that were invaluable for me in my journey of learning how to research properly. And the first one is a technique for producing ideas by James Webb. And the second one is called Hitmakers, the science of popularity in an age of distraction by Derek Thompson.
