And how exactly do you intend to get the characteristic function of literally any realistic phenomena? The reason why we do simulations is primarily because real life phenomena are too hard to ascribe an exact function to. It is very very very very difficult if not next to impossible to use analytical techniques to describe real life phenomena.
Transcript excerpt
this is such a simple idea and it is overwhelming how incredible it is because this completely bypasses the necessity of simulation. And what I have here is just an animation that is just a very small testimonial to this efficiency gain instead of having to simulate the process and then simulate the process again to try to calibrate the parameters of the model to liquid instruments. If we know the characteristic function we can just solve it outright using a Fourier transform and an inverse Fourier transform which is very, very fast. Effectively it is the difference between solving for this risk-neutral conditional expectation or solving for this Fourier transform and inversion. It is a tremendous result.
