Subscription token arbitrage — Claude Max vs Grok Ultra API-equivalent usage
50k ft — Why care?
Compares plan value: Claude's $200 Max is worth over $7,000/month in API usage, while Grok Ultra at $300 is claimed at over $12,000. The creator plans to switch from Claude as brain plus Codex as hands to Fable as brain plus Grokbot as hands.
10k ft — Key takeaways
• Flat subscriptions are far cheaper than API at high usage
• Route planning to the smartest model and execution to the cheapest bulk tokens
• Usage figures are third-party estimates

Transcript excerpt
For Claude, $200 max plan is equivalent to over $7,000 in API usage per month. But I just heard what Grokbot gives you and it is insane. Welcome to Token Hacking episode four, a series where we are trying to figure out the best workflows using AI. If you are building with AI, this series is for you. So I came across this post on X and he compared Claude with Codex and Grokbot. It's already crazy the amount of usage you get on these plans compared to what we're actually paying and how that's actually pretty frightening. But I'm gonna save that for another video. If you've been following along in our little experiment, we've been having Claude 5.1 be the brains and Codex be the hands for all of our projects that we've been coding and what we're working on. But after seeing Grok's usage limit, I think we need to change the strategy because the Grok ultra plan, which yes is $300, gives you over $12,000 in usage per month. But I think it's definitely worth trying having Fable be the brains and Grokbot be the hands for the coding with that kind of usage. I'll let you know how it goes. I'll see you tomorrow.
