Kintsugi sake-bottle repair — urushi lacquer joins, gold powder finish
50k ft — Why care?
A traditional hon-kintsugi repair of a broken tokkuri (sake flask): crack-stopping and interior repairs are finished first because the narrow neck blocks later access, then shards are glued with mugi-urushi, squeeze-out is trimmed with a design knife, and seams are finished in keshifun gold powder.
10k ft — Key takeaways
• Keshifun gold powder gives a soft matte finish on the seams
• Mugi-urushi (wheat-flour lacquer) is the adhesive; trim squeeze-out by hand
• On narrow-necked vessels, repair the interior before bonding the shards
5k ft — Tools & techniques
